Every life is precious to God. Christians have always believed that there is hope in death as in life, and that there is new life in Christ.

You may like to know that our vicar can offer support for a funeral either at the church or crematorium for anyone who lived in the parish regardless of whether they were able to attend regularly church or not. The vicar works closely with the funeral director to ensure that the wishes of the family are taken into account, and that the funeral service is a suitable one, which reflects the life of the deceased as a unique individual.

Some people find planning a funeral with family and friends helps in their grieving. Perhaps you already know something of what your loved one wanted. You may even have planned the service together some time ago.

The funeral service you plan may be very short and quiet with only a few members of the family present, or an occasion of great solemnity with music, hymns and a packed church. Within it you might choose to add personal tributes, special poetry, music and other symbolic actions that are particularly meaningful to you.

You may also find the Church of England's dedicated funeral website useful as it contains excellent advice and help. There is also a useful  link here about dealing with death and grief from the Church Army.
